BK Wines Twin Pack
BK Wines is one of the pioneers of the modern artisan wine movement in the Adelaide Hills. Owner/winemaker Brendan Keys wines are all from single vineyards (some biodynamically farmed), fermented with wild yeasts, unfined and unfiltered, with extended skin contact and even clay fermentation eggs occasionally thrown in for good measure. His wines are creatively imagined, an artist meets skateboarding punk rocker kind of vibe.
In this pack we have two of his premium wines, 2018 Swaby Chardonnay & 2018 Gower Pinot Noir.
Swaby is made from 100% Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay, handpicked, wild-yeast fermentation, only four barrels made, some bâttonage, 10 months in 25% new French oak, bottled in December 2018, unfiltered & unfined.
This premium chardonnay from BK, begins with powerfully flinty aromas belying a nuanced, tiered palate. Flavours of crunchy green apples and boiled sweets are layered gently on a fine, linear scaffold. The back palate, by contrast, is marked by light salinity and the bitter hint grapefruit pith. A little shy but with such clean expression and fabulous length, it will last and last
Gower is made from 100% Lenswood Pinot Noir, handpicked, 100% whole bunch, wild-yeast fermentation, one month on skins, only four barrels made, 10 months in 25% new French oak, bottled in December 2017, unfiltered & unfined.
Gower is Swaby Chardonnay’s elegant other half who always knows his mind. Musk and undergrowth on the nose Morello cherries, exotic spices and white pepper on the palate with great tannic structure. A handsome balance between finesse and power – broad shoulders and a slim waist. With a nod to European styling, this wine is all clarity of purpose and no apologies.
