Giuliana Vicini Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2019
Montepulciano. Abruzzo, Italy.
Cerasuolo use to be the wine you would offer to guests to refresh them and show proudly to be able to make a good wine as it was very difficult at the times to make one. A fresh, fruity and sapid glass of wine that makes you want to go for the next sip.
Giuliana's story is the story of a woman from the beginning of the century who was born into a patriarchal family from which she never managed to redeem. Giuliana was born in 1925, a time when young ladies were a burden for the families, who had to manage their destiny with good marriages for which 'the dowry' was necessary. At 95 years of age, Giuliana left her granddaughter Chiara Ciavolich with her vineyards in Miglianico (Ch), so that she could somehow redeem her name and history. She did so on one condition: that the wine produced with those lands was not called Ciavolich but Vicini, in the name of her strong relationship with the only loved one in her life: her grandmother Donna Ernestina Vicini.
